Tortoise and Hare Story (Part 1) - Slow and Steady Wins the Race!

Tortoise and hare story with the embedded moral in the story is nothing alien to many of us. Every kid has heard of the fabulous story of the Hare and Tortoise, used to teach us the moral of NOT to be TOO ARROGANT and look down at the weakling. Here, we learn that the weakling, even being slow but because he is taking a steady, consistent and persevere through the race, he ultimately won the race!

The first part is the version of the story that we've all grown up with.

Once upon a time a tortoise and a hare had an argument about who was faster. They decided to settle the argument with a race. They agreed on a route and started off the race.

hare and tortoise The hare shot ahead and ran briskly for some time. Then seeing that he was far ahead of the tortoise, he thought he'd sit under a tree for some time and relax before continuing the race.

He sat under the tree and soon fell asleep. The tortoise plodding on overtook him and soon finished the race, emerging as the undisputed champ.

The hare woke up and realised that he'd lost the race.

Moral of story:

Slow and steady wins the race. Consistent, effective effort and perseverance leads to success. In our modern life, everyone is rushing, and everything is about rushing ahead and rushing everywhere. We didn’t stop to smell the flower, not to disagree, busy is good. Being busy mean we still have contribution to society and we are needed.

But sometimes, more often that not, we found out that we are busy for nothing, and all over the places without primary focus. Slow and steady sometimes is good, as long as we are moving ahead. Therefore DON’T GET FRUSTRATED if you think YOUR PROGRESS IS SLOW, as long as you making the PROGRESS FORWARD!!

As Abraham Lincoln claimed "I WALK SLOWLY, but I NEVER WALK BACKWARD"

The part 2 of the tortoise and hare story continues here.
